I have been a physician recruiter in the Locum Tenens industry for over 9 years. 

During this time, I have spoken to thousands of physicians and healthcare facilities all over the country and have sympathized with their struggles on both sides of the equation.

The other choice is that they continue to have a shortage of providers which means someone is not able to been seen by a physician in a timely manner.  Also, because the cuts usually come from physician salary or inability to buy up to date healthcare equipment, physicians retention is almost non-existent. 

Providers are forced to move on in a couple of years and the cycle starts all over again. 

Recruiters get another 25K, and the community, facilities and physicians bear the consequences.
